REAP Deadline Extension

Earlier this year, USDA, Rural Development, announced that the Rural Energy for America Program (REAP) is open for applications focused on Renewable Energy Systems, Energy Efficiency Improvements and Feasibility Studies. This section of the program offered both grants and guaranteed loans/grant combos with an original due date of Apriil 30, 2013.

The Commodity Credit Corporation has announced five grants that support activities around agricultural exports.  All of these grants are due May 28, 2013 at 5pm EST.

Foreign Market Development Cooperator Program

The USDA announced the award recipients for the Value Added Producer Grant program this morning and Morrison & Company was ecstatic to learn that our clients were awarded a combined $1.75 million in federal grant funding for marketing and planning projects related to value-added activities.

USDA, Rural Development, announced that the Rural Energy for America Program (REAP) is open for applications focused on Renewable Energy Systems, Energy Efficiency Improvements and Feasibility Studies. This section of the program offers both grants and guaranteed loans. The purpose of the program is to help agricultural producers and rural small businesses reduce energy costs and consumption and help meet the Nation’s critical energy needs.

The National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA) has announced its Food Security grant under the Agriculture and Food Research Initiative (AFRI) Grants program.  For fiscal year 2013, it is anticipated that approximately $5 million will be made available to support program areas designed to achieve outcomes of ensuring the availability and accessibility of safe and nutritious food by increasing the supply and reducing losses.

The USDA Risk Management Agency is anticipating opening their Risk Management Education and Outreach Partnerships Program this spring, with at least $3 million available to provide training and education to agricultural producers on a broad range of risk management topics.

This federal grant program has traditionally announced funding availability in the spring, and RMA staff have indicated that the 2013 program will open as soon as late March or early April. Applications have typically been due within 30 to 60 days of the program announcement.

NASA is currently accepting proposals for its Competitive Program for Science Museums, Planetariums and NASA Visitor Centers Plus Other Opportunities (CP4SMP+, for short).

This program provides funds ranging from $100,000 to $1.25 million (with no matching funds required) for NASA-inspired space, science, technology, engineering, or mathematics informal education projects, including exhibits and partnerships with K-12 schools or districts to inspire inquiry-based education. Applications are now being accepted for the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) Conservation Innovation Grants (CIG), with up to $25 million available in 2013 for projects that stimulate the development and adoption of innovative conservation approaches and technologies.

The program is open to governmental agencies, state governments, non-governmental organizations, universities, and individuals.

Applicants may apply for up to $1 million for projects up to three years that encompass the development, field testing, evaluation, implementation, and monitoring of:

The Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) is offering a total $49.5 million in grant funding over the next several years to businesses seeking to partner with the federal agency to advance and develop critical war fighting technology.

The program is open to all United States businesses and funding is targeted at projects that advance the nation's air, space, and cyberspace forces.
