Value Added Producer Grant Program Announced

The USDA announced today that the application period for the Value Added Producer Grant program is now open, with $37 million in federal funding available.

The grant program is open to independent producers, farmer and rancher cooperatives, and agricultural producer groups and aims to help these entities expand into emerging markets.

Grant funding may be used to complete business plans and feasibility studies or can provide working capital for marketing value-added products. The maximum grant amount for a planning grant is $100,000 and $300,000 for a working capital grant.

The application deadline is August 29, 2011.

The team of professionals at Morrison & Company has prepared dozens of Value Added Producer Grant applications since 2002, with a high rate of success. With today’s announcement, we are hard at work reviewing the VAPG materials and expect to post further information on the program later this week.

Until then, be sure to check out our previous blog entry on this year's program here or you can read the Notice of Funding Availability here.
