USDA’s Commodity Credit Corporation released the NOFA for five grant or assistance programs today, each of which assists entities with creating or expanding foreign markets for agricultural commodities in one way or another. Here is the name and a brief summary of each:
The Emerging Markets Program (EMP) exists to assist U.S. entities in developing, maintaining, or expanding exports of U.S. agricultural commodities and products by funding activities that improve emerging markets’ food and rural business systems, including reducing potential trade barriers in such markets.
The Foreign Market Development Cooperator Program aims to create, expand, and maintain foreign markets for U.S. agricultural commodities and products through cost-share assistance for certain overseas marketing and promotion activities.
The Market Access Program is an assistance program that aims to create, expand, and maintain foreign markets for U.S. agricultural commodities and products through cost-share assistance for certain overseas marketing and promotion activities. MAP participants may receive assistance for generic or brand promotion activities.
The Quality Samples Program encourages the development and expansion of export markets for U.S. agricultural commodities by assisting U.S. entities in providing commodity samples to potential foreign importers to promote a better understanding and appreciation for the high quality of U.S. agricultural commodities.
The Technical Assistance for Specialty Crops Program supports projects that address sanitary, phytosanitary, or related technical barriers that prohibit or threaten the export of U.S. specialty crops.
