USDA Specialty Crop Block Grant Program (SCBG) Funding Announced

The USDA has now formally announced  its Specialty Crop Block Grant Program (SCBG).  This program is a “flow-through” program to the states.  That means that states apply to the USDA for funds and then you apply to the state.  Several states, including California, Colorado, Texas, Missouri, Indiana, Wisconsin, and Washington, have “jumped the gun” a bit by accepting applications in anticipation of this announcement from the USDA.  Of course, if you are a subscriber to our database, this is old news since you already got your email notifications about all of that.

For more info on the details of the SCBG grants check out Brent’s blog entry.  If your state hasn’t announced its SCBG and you want to apply, you need to be watching your state’s website. Either that, or you need to subscribe, set up a saved search and we’ll drop you an email when your state announces.

Last year, we wrote two successful grants for the SCBG program (with funding totaling over $640,000) and just finished many more for the California program this year.  The various states are expected to have similar programs, so if you are not in the “Golden State,” we would love to discuss your project with you.
