The California Department of Food and Agriculture announced today that it will hold free workshops and one free webinar from January 11-14 to help interested entities apply for the 2010 Specialty Crop Block Grant Program.
The Specialty Crop Block Grant Program exists to enhance the competitiveness of specialty crops (fruits, vegetables, tree nuts, dried fruits, horticulture, and nursery crops). Funded by the US Department of Agriculture, SCBGP is a federal flow-through program in which each state has leeway in designing its specific criteria. Various states request grant applications at different times throughout the year.
California has not yet released its request for applications (RFA), but these workshops are a signal that RFAs are soon to follow. See the CDFA Press Release for workshop schedule and further information.
